What is Reiki?

Reiki is best understood through experiencing it. The term 'Reiki' is derived from two Japanese words: 'rei,' meaning Spiritual Conscious Energy, and 'ki,' meaning life force energy (known as prana or chi in other cultures). Reiki is the harmonious union of these two energies, allowing for healing and transformation. Channeled by Mikao Usui Sensei in Japan over 100 years ago, Usui, a Samurai and Buddhist practitioner, brought forth Reiki as a system of healing and a philosophy of self-knowledge—the path to heal and know oneself. Despite the existence of various systems connecting to spiritual conscious energy throughout history, it is thanks to Usui’s attuned Reiki Masters that the tradition of Reiki has been kept alive and brought to the West.

Reiki, originally conceived as a philosophy before evolving into a healing modality, emphasizes the interconnectedness of spiritual and life force energies. During a Reiki treatment, the body's energetic system is balanced, promoting physical health, reducing inflammation and stress, and encouraging regeneration and healing. Reiki treatments are deeply relaxing and can lead to profound transformation and spiritual epiphanies.

However, it's crucial to note that { P A U S E } inJoy, the philosophy developed by my teacher Patti Penn, transcends the typical Western interpretation of Reiki as an alternative healing modality. { P A U S E } inJoy teaches students how to interface directly with Spirit and empowers them to clear and clean their unconscious behavior, repeated patterns, and unaware beliefs. Due to the rigorous training required of { P A U S E } inJoy students, Reiki treatments are often more intense and awakening. This approach significantly differs from the typical Western approach to Reiki.

What to Expect in a Reiki Session?

Reiki treatments can be performed in person or remotely. During an in-person session, the client is fully clothed and may be seated or lying on a massage table with their eyes closed. The practitioner gently lays their hands on* or above various parts of the body, including the chakras or energy centers. Clients are guided to focus on their breath and may experience warmth, tingling, or other physical sensations, as well as vivid images, memories, or visions.

Reiki is safe for all ages and can be used to address various physical and emotional needs, including preparing for surgery, recovering from surgery, complementing cancer treatments, managing allergies, addressing infertility, managing autoimmune conditions, and coping with anxiety, stress, grief, and other emotional challenges.

New clients are required to complete intake paperwork to assist in getting a clear picture of your current experience before our in-person session.

All sessions are by donation, and although the recommended donation is $350, clients may donate whatever they wish. The emphasis of the energy healing process is on healing physical, emotional, and spiritual problems and conditions. This may not lead to a cure, and there is no guarantee that the energy healing session will solve a particular condition. Healing sessions, which take approximately 2 hours, may also incorporate tools such as crystals or sound vibration instruments based on the client's preferences and needs.

*Clients have a choice about whether to permit physical contact.
